Jonell Mosser is an acclaimed Nashville singer/songwriter. She has recorded with countless legends including Etta James, B.B. King, Wynonna, Trisha Yearwood, and Waylon Jennings. Her soulful vocals and emotionally-charged performances have earned a legion of devoted fans worldwide. Jonell kindly joined Artist Spotlight to discuss her career and her dedication to World Vision, CASA, Habitat for Humanity, Alive Hospice, and Doctors without Borders.

Tell us more about the amazing artists with whom you have recorded.
I have gotten to sing with Mavis Staples, Bonnie Raitt, Vince Gill, B.B. King, George Jones,Townes Van Zandt, John Prine, George McCorkle. LeeRoy Parnell, Delbert McClinton,Etta James, Joan Baez {ok that's about a 40th of my resume. enough?}

Now tell us more about your solo work. What is the inspiration for your songs?
It depends on the song. To me, songs can be living things, {as weird as that sounds} and can come from all kinds of places.

Do you have a favorite song you have recorded or a song that is particularly dear to your heart?
I have about 70 or 80 that are dear to my heart and almost every year, that list grows.

What is your all-time favorite song (by another artist)?
Again there are at least 12. One of them {the first that came to my mind right now} is Drift Away by Dobie Gray.

Is there any artist you dream of performing with someday?
yes, i would love to sing with Jimmy Webb, or Ry Cooder or Tony Bennett! Or Bob Dylan!

What message would you like your music to convey to the listener?
Love is the best fuel to burn.

that's not for me to say, I can't objectively observe my own person.

Can you tell us more about the charities and causes you support?
I support World Vision, CASA, Habitat for Humanity, Alive Hospice, Doctors without Borders, etc,....

What do you consider the highlight of your career, thus far?
Playing in a band with Benmont Tench, Don Was, Mark Goldenberg and Ringo Starr.

What projects will you be working on this year? Any plans to tour?
two different cds and yes, plan to tour
